The Waterhole
Paul is talking to Izzy about her hospital donation, and her plan to name the new wing after Karl.

IZZY: Karl deserves it. The Kennedy name is a cornerstone in this community.
PAUL: Yeah, that's arguable.

The mysterious Rafael comes in, and lingers at the back, as Karl and Susan, who have been at the bar, rejoin Paul and Izzy. Paul claims he's already been given the naming rights for the wing, but Izzy tells him that Clive says the largest donor can choose the name.

PAUL: You still are the same snake, aren't you?
KARL: Oh, come on, Paul! There's nothing underhanded about making a donation to a worthy cause!
PAUL: Oh, you would say that, wouldn't you?

Karl says that Paul needn't worry about David's position if that's the problem, but Paul simply asks Izzy what's in it for her. Susan looks at her pointedly!

IZZY: Nothing. Except for the knowledge that I can finally make up for my mistakes. And give something back. Look, I know - I know I haven't always been perfect, or the best mother...
SUSAN: ...
IZZY: ... but my late husband worked in pharmaceuticals, and I know this is something he would really want. And you should be happy that you don't have to bother with any more fundraising! So let's celebrate!

Paul slinks off angrily, promising to talk to Clive about this, while Izzy extracts a toast from Karl and a grudging Susan. Rafael watches Paul curiously as he leaves.

Courtroom
Terese is comforting a tearful Piper as the courtroom empties, and Toadie walks over to join them.

TOADIE: They've taken him. Sorry, Piper - I let you down.
PIPER: You didn't. I'm the one - I made everything worse.

Terese tries to persuade Piper to come home with her, but Piper doesn't want to go.

PIPER: If I leave, then all of this is real.

Warrinor Prison
Tyler enters his cell with bed linen and a toilet roll. The cell door slams behind him, and he looks despondently at the toilet at the end of the bed, before sitting on the bed pensively.

No 24

Mark and Aaron have arrived back from court. Mark looks at Tyler's mangy green chair, and touches it with his hand, before sitting down in it, very emotional. Aaron comes over to comfort him.

Warrinor Prison
As day turns to night, Tyler looks sad and scared.

Erinsborough Backpackers
Rafael lies in his bunk. He is asleep, and clearly dreaming and sweating. We cut to a dream sequence of Rafael, standing in an empty room. He raises his arms, and sees that they are burning! He wakes up with a start in his bunk, gasping with terror, as he begins to realise it was a dream.

The next morning, Sheila is putting up a 'staff wanted' poster on the noticeboard. Rafael, who is sitting at a table nearby, sees this and looks interested.

Sheila goes over to the bar to speak to Amy, who is buying a bottle of champagne; she explains it's for a girls' get-together with Elly. Sheila says she is having a day out too, on a date with Clive. Amy notices Rafael and appears to find him attractive - but then reminds herself that today is a man-free day. Amy leaves, telling Sheila to enjoy her date.

No 28
Karl wishes an unimpressed-looking Susan a happy Valentine's Day! Susan and Elly have been talking about Tyler, and Karl remarks that it's an 'awful business'.

KARL: I guess we just have to appreciate what we've got.

He hands Susan a Valentine's present, and she cracks a smile - until she opens it, and finds that he's bought her fridge magnets, bearing images from their trip to London! Susan has bought Karl a couple's massage at the Flametree Retreat, which he is more impressed with.

SUSAN: Well, it's not your name on the side of a hospital wing, but I hope it will suffice.
KARL: Now, that's uncalled-for.
SUSAN: No, Karl. What Isabelle's doing is uncalled-for!
KARL: What Isabelle is doing is very, very generous.
SUSAN: Oh, come on! She hasn't got a generous bone in her body! You mark my words - she wants something in return. We're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Susan walks out, while Elly shakes her head at Karl's stinginess with the fridge magnets!

Ramsay Street
Shane and Kirsha are sneaking out of No 30 with a covered tray. Elly asks what they're up to; Shane explains they've made Dipi a special Valentine's brekkie, but did it at Toadie's so she wouldn't see. Shane steals a flower from Sonya's garden to complete the breakfast spread! Elly says Dipi's a lucky woman. Shane asks after Elly's own love life. She says she's enjoying being single at the moment.

SHANE: Ah, but that's when it happens, right? Exactly when you're not looking for it!
ELLY: Maybe - or probably not for a girl that's on a celibacy pact.

Shane and Kirsha rush off to deliver breakfast, leaving Elly looking thoughtful.

No 22
Terese comes downstairs to find that Piper has been lying on the couch all night, sick with worry about Tyler. Terese assures her he's resilient and will be able to look after himself. Terese also reveals that Tyler told her about Philip Banks, the man who's been making threats against him. Tyler asked Terese not to tell Piper, she explains, so as not to worry her. Piper bursts into tears.

PIPER: Mark was the one who put Banks in prison. And that's why he went after Ty, and now Ty's in there with him!

The Waterhole
Sheila is on the phone to a staff member who's called in sick, though it's clear she doesn't believe them. Rafael approaches the bar.

SHEILA: Can I help you, love, or are you happy standing there looking like a stunned mullet?
RAFAEL: A stunned mullet?
SHEILA: Ooh, an accent! Not from London - let me guess. I'm thinking north - Birmingham? Manchester? Glasgow!
RAFAEL: I saw your ad. I was looking for a job.
SHEILA: Oh, so you've worked in pubs before?
RAFAEL: ...
SHEILA: Oh, it's a simple question, love. Yes or no?
RAFAEL: No, I haven't. But I'm a quick learner.
SHEILA: I'm sure you are. But I really need someone who knows the ropes.
RAFAEL: Please - I'll do anything.

Sheila admits that half her staff are off because of Valentine's Day, so she needs the help. She offers Rafael a trial shift collecting glasses and cleaning tables, just for today. He goes to get started.

Clive comes in, bearing a bunch of flowers for Sheila. She regretfully tells him she'll have to cancel their date, as she's stuck here covering for sickies and training newbies.

CLIVE: Well, tell me what you want me to do.
SHEILA: What are you talking about?
CLIVE: You are my date. You are short-staffed. I am gonna help.

Sheila says it's not necessary, but Clive puts on an apron and asks her where she should start - before kissing her on the lips! Sheila beams from ear to ear.

A park
Elly and Amy are wandering along, chatting and enjoying their singleness. Amy feels guilty about celebrating while Tyler's in jail, but Elly says Tyler's situation has taught her to make the most of what she has. They select a spot for a picnic, and head over to sit down.

Lassiter's Complex

Mishti is having a drink outside Harold's when Terese turns up, wanting to talk to her about Piper.

TERESE: Have you told anyone that it was me that tipped you off about Piper and Tyler running off?
MISHTI: No-one other than my boss. Why?
TERESE: It's just... I'd appreciate it if it stayed that way. Look, I do plan on telling Piper when she's strong enough. But right now, she is so raw, and she'd be devastated.
MISHTI: Consider it in the vault! (...) You weren't wrong to turn them in. Things are bad now, but they could've been a lot worse.
TERESE: I know. It's just really hard watching her in pain.

Terese thanks Mishti and leaves. Meanwhile, nearby, David bumps into Aaron - literally. David tells Aaron how sorry he is about Tyler's sentencing. Aaron thanks him, and they awkwardly go their separate ways. Aaron looks sadly back towards David as he goes.

The Waterhole
Paul is pestering Clive (who is clearing tables!) about the naming rights to the new hospital wing, annoyed that Izzy has purloined them from him.

CLIVE: The Helen Daniels Wing does have a nice ring to it (...) but 20 million is 20 million! We have to focus on the final result, and that's a better hospital. And that's what Isabelle Hoyland's donation will mean.
PAUL: I will fight this, you know.
SHEILA: Hey, Moneybags! Leave my staff alone!

But Paul snaps back at Sheila, telling her to keep the place in better condition. He then imperiously tells Rafael to clean up one of the tables. Rafael looks resentful, and watches angrily as Paul goes over to speak to Izzy.

PAUL: Well, you certainly know how to land on your feet, don't you?! I mean, marrying someone that wealthy just before they croak? That's a level of cunning that's rarely seen!
IZZY: I'll have you know that I loved my husband very much.
PAUL: Sure you did. All gold-diggers do.

Karl and Susan arrive during this, and Karl has a go at Paul for talking like that to Izzy. Susan tells Karl to stay out of it, but Karl continues to rant at Paul, accusing him of sour grapes because Izzy outdid his donation.

KARL: Generosity should be applauded, not maligned.
SUSAN: Yeah, and if you get a hospital wing out of it, all the better (!)

Karl pulls Susan aside to tell her off for her remark, but she tells him to stop embarrassing himself!

SUSAN: Instead of believing every line she feeds you, why don't you find out what she really wants?
KARL: You are the one who's embarrassing yourself!

Karl returns to Izzy and Paul, and apologises to Izzy, before going to buy her a coffee. Paul slinks out, and Izzy approaches Susan.

IZZY: You're wrong, you know. I really am trying to make up for my past mistakes. I mean it. Especially to you.
SUSAN: Isabelle - if you really wanted to make things right with me, you'd go back to London, and you'd stay there.

Susan walks off, leaving Izzy looking disconcerted.

A park
Elly and Amy are enjoying their champagne picnic.

ELLY: You are the best Valentine's date I've ever had!
AMY: Wow - that is sad, my friend!
ELLY: Seriously, though - I have been stood up, robbed, broken up with. I have spent an entire Valentine's night in the emergency department once...

Elly asks Amy if she has any rival bad Valentine's anecdotes, but she doesn't!

AMY: Actually, Liam pulled out all the stops on Valentine's Day. It was just the other 364 days of the year that he was terrible!
ELLY: Why do we put ourselves through this supposed day of romance?
AMY: When you figure that one out, let me know.
ELLY: You know what? My most romantic moments in life have all been really low-key.
AMY: Yeah, you just need a connection.
ELLY: Yeah. I don't need hearts and roses and jewellery. I just need a real connection.
AMY: Like this one!
ELLY: Hmm. Maybe a little bit of jewellery would be great...

They laugh.

No 24
Toadie is filling in Piper, Mark and Aaron on the situation with Banks, whom we learn will be in solitary confinement for at least a week.

TOADIE: Apparently he was busted trying to break out a few days ago.

But Piper is worried that, when he gets out of solitary, he'll go after Tyler - particularly since he was supposed to be helping him escape and didn't. Mark feels guilty for being responsible for Banks being inside in the first place. Toadie goes off to call Tyler, in the hope of getting him transferred to another prison.

Meanwhile, Piper worries that Banks will just send his mates after Tyler instead. Aaron says they can ensure he's safe by organising phone calls and a visitors' roster. Piper wants to go and visit him now.

A park
Elly and Amy are still drinking.

AMY: So, do you think our celibacy pact has changed the way you think about men?
ELLY: Yes and no. I still want what I've always wanted.
AMY: And what's that?
ELLY: True love. Someone I can get to know - who wants to know me. Someone who I can laugh with every day. Who wants to have babies, and is there for me every step of the way.
AMY: Wow! You're not muckin' around, are ya?
ELLY: I know I'm not going to find him tomorrow. But my outlook on finding him has changed. I'm just sick of obsessing over every guy that shows me a little bit of interest. And that's the thing this pact has taught me - it's that I can just relax a little bit. And if I can find the best version of me, then he'll just come along.
AMY: The universe will provide!

Elly jokingly shouts up to the sky, demanding the universe do just that! She then asks Amy what she wants.

AMY: Honestly? Hearing you talk, I now know what I really want is... a night of super hotness!
ELLY: Amy!!
AMY: It's been a hundred days!!

Amy duly shouts up to the sky to 'bring me a hottie, and break this drought, please!' More laughing.

Susan and Karl come in, still bickering - it seems that their couple's massage is off! Susan thinks she has the right to be wary of Izzy, but Karl retorts that she should at least get the benefit of the doubt. Susan thinks Izzy is manipulating Karl by naming the hospital wing after him, and stroking his ego. Karl witters on about the legacy the hospital wing will leave for Holly.

SUSAN: Izzy doesn't care about legacy! Or Holly! Or you, or me - this is all about her!

Izzy is sipping a drink, looking sly. She pulls a large pink binder from her bag, and strokes it...

The Kennedys' argument continues.

KARL: Paul Robinson has no history of philanthropy - you're not questioning *him*!
SUSAN: That's different!
KARL: Why? Why is it different?!

The Waterhole
Izzy tentatively opens the binder, and looks entranced and conflicted by its contents.

No 28
Karl accuses Susan of having a personal problem with Izzy's donation. She retorts that of course it's personal!

SUSAN: That woman has been a thorn in my side for too many years to count!
KARL: *Was* a thorn in your side, Susan - you have to find a way to put this bad blood behind you!

Susan marches out of the room, shouting that she can't do this.

The Waterhole
Izzy smiles, but we get a sense that she's also feeling emotional about what she's been looking at. Meanwhile, Sheila congratulates Rafael on his glass-cleaning skills. Clive is waiting on tables, but is getting all the orders wrong - so Rafael intervenes, swapping David's food with another customer's whose meal it got mixed up with.

David seems to take a shine to Rafael, and they get chatting, as David explains that Clive is his boss at the hospital.

RAFAEL: Are you a doctor?
DAVID: Guilty. What about you?
RAFAEL: I'm... British. I'm a traveller. I'm...
DAVID: Travelling!

David makes a remark about being single on Valentine's Day, and Rafael looks conflicted. We hear glasses smashing off-screen, and Rafael rushes to help. It turns out Clive is responsible for the smashed glass, and Sheila has had about as much as she can take of his clumsiness!

SHEILA: Well, there goes today's wages!
CLIVE: Let me clean this up.
SHEILA: No, no, no - you are the loveliest man I've ever met. But honestly, I just don't think you're cut out for this kind of work! So, you're fired!
CLIVE: Thank you!
SHEILA (to Rafael): And you? You're hired!
RAFAEL: ...
CLIVE: Would it be wrong to give the boss a parting kiss?

Clive and Sheila kiss, while David and Rafael give each other tentative glances. David smiles to himself.

Warrinor Prison
A tearful Piper is visiting Tyler. Tyler doesn't look happy to be being visited.

PIPER: I know that you're probably still in shock. And the sentence was hard to hear. But it's not twenty years, Ty - with good behaviour, it's only ten.
TYLER: ...
PIPER: We can do this. Even if you transfer, there are so many things we can do to stay connected.
TYLER: Piper -
PIPER: Which reminds me...

She produces a Valentine's teddy bear from under the table. Tyler does not look impressed...

PIPER: You didn't think I forgot, did you?
TYLER: Pipes -
PIPER: I was thinking we could maybe call him Mark because -
TYLER: Will you just stop?!
PIPER: What's wrong?
TYLER: What's not wrong?!
PIPER: I know. Ty -
TYLER: No, no, no. You don't know... I think it's best if you don't come in again.
PIPER: ... That's not an option.
TYLER: Yes, it is. I want you to stay away from now on.
PIPER: I know what you're trying to do, Tyler. Don't!
TYLER: I'm only in this situation because of you. You, and that stupid escape plan. It is all your fault.
PIPER: ... Ty, you don't mean that!
TYLER: I'm taking you off the visitors list. I don't love you anymore.
PIPER: Ty, that's not true, okay? We can get through this!
TYLER: I don't love you. Get it?

Tyler walks out of the room, looking broken. Piper watches him in shock as he goes.

Unmissable Neighbours
- Rafael has been taking pictures on the Robinson Heights construction site
- Izzy tells Karl that she's thinking of staying on in Erinsborough
- Piper tells Xanthe that 'it' is the only explanation that makes any sense
