Brennan goes over the suspicious bloke.
BRENNAN: Excuse me, mate...
The bloke instantly panics, grabs his bag and tries to run off, but Brennan grabs him, jamming him up against a fence.
BLOKE: What are you doing?!
Brennan has clearly forgotten that he's mechanic these days, not a policeman(!)
BRENNAN: You're under arrest! You're not obliged to say anything, but anything you do say may be used in evidence, do you understand?
Brennan takes the bloke's bag.
BLOKE: It's not mine.
BRENNAN: Yeah, it's what they all say. You're in big trouble, buddy! Come with me.
Later, Greta is berating Brennan and telling him that he shouldn't have got involved - setting him up with a new identity cost a fortune and Brennan should be protecting it.
GRETA: You are not a cop anymore, in case you hadn't noticed! You've got no idea what you've done, do you? We are going to have to start over, from scratch!
BRENNAN: What?
GRETA: Your cover's blown.
BRENNAN: You're over- reacting! This doesn't have to be a big deal, I'll come up with a story for Craig.
GRETA: Oh, great plan! Only I've got information that Holland is in the area.
BRENNAN:(shocked) Who's your source?
GRETA: Someone reliable.
BRENNAN: He may not even be here for me!
GRETA: It doesn't really matter. How long do you think it's going to take before he hears that some mechanic is making citizen's arrests?
Brennan is silent.
GRETA: Exactly.
BRENNAN: What do you want me to do?
GRETA: Hope that you're not too attached to anything in your apartment, because you're never going to see it again. And we've got to come up with a plan to shake Holland off your tail, hopefully for good.
Brennan sighs and gets in the car.
"You know what the worse thing about this, Kate? Knowing you could be hurting and that I can't be there to make it better. That I caused it. But maybe it's the best way. It's the ultimate clean break, right? Mark Brennan. He's dead."
Brennan lies on the ground behind a tape, "Police Line Do Not Cross"
An apartment
Brennan unpacks a few things from a box, then sits sadly on the bed. There's an envelope on the bed with his new identity - "Matt Smith"
A FEW MONTHS LATER
Climbing Centre
A young woman approaches Brennan and tells him she's nervous about climbing. He assures her she'll have a helmet and everything will be fine. She says the nearest hospital is miles away(!) Brennan encourages her and says he won't let her fall. They shake hands on this, introducing themselves as "Sienna" and "Matt".
Later, after the climb, Sienna seeks Brennan out again.
SIENNA: Hey, Matt!
BRENNAN: Hey!
SIENNA: I just wanted to say thank you for being so patient with me today.
BRENNAN: Oh, it's all part of the service. Did you have fun?
SIENNA: Yeah, I did. My legs are like spaghetti, though!
BRENNAN: So, I guess we'll be seeing you again, then?
SIENNA: Yes, I think you will be.
BRENNAN: Maybe we'll just sign you up for the whole term, eh?
SIENNA:(laughs) We'll see.
There is a bit of a pause.
SIENNA: Anyway, I should let you get back.
BRENNAN: Sure, well, have a good night.
SIENNA: You too.
She starts to walk away but then turns back.
SIENNA: I don't suppose you'd like to grab a drink or go out for dinner sometime? I mean, obviously not tonight because we're both exhausted and I think my deodorant ran out a couple of hours ago(!) But, maybe some other time?
Brennan looks interested, but then his smile fades.
SIENNA: If you're not too busy?
BRENNAN: Thanks for the offer.
Sienna closes her eyes in embarrassment.
SIENNA: Are you married? All the good ones are married.
BRENNAN: No, no I'm not married.
SIENNA: No?
BRENNAN: No. Guess that means I'm not a good guy, eh?
SIENNA: So, is that a 'yes'?
GO ON A DATE WITH SIENNA?
