Lassiters Complex
A very angry Hendrix leaves the pub. He probably says a few expletives as he sounds off, but we don't her anything due to the music being played (What you said).
The Waterhole
Pierce returns into the table and Chloe asks if he is okay and he replies that he isn't, because Hendrix "just knows how to push my buttons," but she know that the lad "pushes everyone's buttons!" She stops him from going looking for the lad as his adrenaline is still pumping.
PIERCE: It's just every time that I think we've made progress.
CHLOE: He crashes a metaphorical or literal car!
PIERCE: What am I meant to do? Just sit here and wait for another disaster to happen?
CHLOE: You have to keep trying with him.
PIERCE: I've done everything. There's nothing else left to do.
From how he is talking, Chloe wonders if he is starting to give up. Pierce doesn't reply to her question and instead says it's time to go have a chat with Hendrix's mum.
Harold's Café
Harlow and Roxy are sitting watching Hendrix (he's at another table) discussing what happened in the pub. "Hendrix had it coming," is Harlow's take on it and Roxy tries to get her to see it from another angle - having parents that don't understand you.
Roxy leaves their table to head over and talk to Hendrix. She tries to cheer him up by pointing out that [thanks to him] they got their own photoshoot with the cup...
ROXY: And you got the stick out of Harlow's butt for about five minutes!
Despite the kind words of Roxy, the lad doesn't "need a shoulder to cry on." She tries to point out did he really expect that his dad wasn't going to lose it? His silence confirms to her that he knew what he would gain after the stunt..."and I think that's what you wanted," she then adds and knows why - Pierce dropped everything when Chloe returned.
At the mention of Chloe, we finally get a reaction from Hendrix, and he describes them as "being wrapped around their little fingers like a bunch of losers." "Yip, they suck," is Roxy's reply and from the look on Hendrix's face, that isn't what he was expecting to hear.
Number 26
Sheila is happy to leave Gary taking in the washing from the garden as she is all dolled up and is about to head out to see Clive, who should now be Beverly-free since the conference is finished.
Hospital
From the upset look on Beverly's face, Clive has left the 'it's over' speech until literally the last minute... however she is all happy when she turns up seconds later to where Aaron is having a quick word with David before going to meet Chloe. Beverly passes onto David some very favourable comments about how his presentation went at the symposium, which he seems very happy to hear.
Number 28
Susan is back from the UK and is immediately dishing out the sympathy to Elly and Finn. Toadie is there too and the pair exchange a warm hug as Finn goes to take a call. The call was from his mum and it's not good news - a blizzard has dumped another 5 feet of snow, so the search is being called off... and that when they do go back out, it will be "a retrieval mission."
FINN: He's dead. Shaun's dead.
(Later)
Susan sits consoling Finn on the sofa as the news about Shaun being dead starts to sink in. "I wish it had of been me," Finn says to her, having declared Shaun the better brother too.
Over at the table, Toadie is talking to Elly about grief (she seems to be holding it in unlike Finn) and how everyone reacts differently. "I don't know what I need," she eventually says, and he reassures her that is okay and that everyone will be there to help her, and the baby get through it.
It then dawns on Elly that the funeral will be in Switzerland and tearfully Finn says, "I won't even get to say goodbye." At this point, things seem to get to top of Elly and she quickly grabs her bag and exits the house.
Number 24
Chloe admits to missing her big brother as she and Aaron pack up Mark's stuff. Pierce arrives with more bubble wrap and confirms (after Aaron asked) that it has been radio silence from Hendrix. He also hasn't been able to get hold of Lisa either as she has been in continuous meetings.
Chloe is starting to get emotional at packing up, and Aaron tries to tell her that "life evolves" and "saying goodbye to this place, that's just the end of an era."
Hospital
Clive will have a lot of talking to do with Sheila after she arrives at the hospital and sees Beverly not just sit on Clive's desk, but kiss him goodbye too (she's off to see some patients but is "all his" later on!).
After watching Beverly leave, Sheila seems to catch Clive unawares when she heads into his office (Beverly left the door open) and isn't mincing her words!
SHEILA: That did not look like a woman you had just broken up with!
"I can explain," Clive immediately replies back and says that he was going to break up with her, but "the timings not right!" Turns out her niece was in a car accident and is still distressed (that must have been why we saw her crying earlier?) so pleads to be given a bit more time.
SHEILA: What, a little longer so that you can have your cake and eat it too?!
He at least tries to reassure her that at the conference, everything was professional... which buys him the time he is after however he is getting "nothing" from Sheila until "this is sorted." Which lasts all of a few seconds until the pair are pashing away and then doors and blinds being hastily closed!!!
Number 28
Susan apologises for dragging Toadie into what's happening, especially as his grief is still recent. He is happy to help but admits to thinking how Sonya would deal with things and then wish "she was here to do it."
Finn interrupts their chat to see if they've heard from Elly as she isn't answering her calls (no) and if she should be alone just now? Susan is sure she hasn't gone far but agrees to Toadie's suggestions of going for a drive to see if they can spot her.
Number 32
Finn heads to check with David and Aaron if Elly is there (she isn't but they are sure she will be home soon) and tells them about what has happened in Switzerland. David mentions that he has some coping strategies in case Finn needs them.
Harold's Café
Elly isn't there, so Toadie and Susan are just about to head out to check the lake when Pierce arrives. He seems surprised Susan is home already and after she lets him know that she's heard what Hendrix got up to with the Melbourne Cup, declares that he's thrown in the towel as far as the lad is concerned and is going to find "some other arrangement." She reminds him that he wasn't going to give up, so he points out that "nothing has worked."
PIERCE: Not even your advice. I'm done.
Toadie points out that he is the father and thus can't be done, but Pierce is resolute that Hendrix "brings out the worst in him" and so "he's better off without me." Again, Toadie says Pierce is wrong, he need to show the lad that "no matter what he does, you aren't going anywhere." Susan backs Toadie up, telling Pierce that he has to be "the rock."
The Waterhole
Gary spots his mum entering the bar and asks if the reunion "lived up to the hype?" She plays it cool, simply confirming "it was nice to see him" and that they are "taking things slow" because Clive's not split up with Beverly yet! "That sucks," he replies and thinks she's been fooled into believing the old adage of 'it's not the right time' but she is sure Clive will keep to his word and keep his hands off Beverly.
GARY: Mum, Beverly is the starting line-up. He's got you warming the bench.
Sheila agrees with him but doesn't care, because she describes herself as being "the leading goalscorer" and Roxy interjects to translate for Gary that it means his mum "is hitting it."
GARY: Clive's still seeing Beverly.
ROXY: Sheila Canning, the other woman... it suits you!
Roxy is definitely in the team Sheila camp, urging her on into "getting some!"
GARY: Please, do not tell my mother to get some!
Gary warns her that its likely to lead to it all blowing up in her face (despite what Roxy thinks!) and that she needs "to put a lid on it" until "the breakup is real." "I will," she replies back to her son.
Number 24
Pierce arrives with sustenance (a coffee) just as Chloe has finished packing! He is curious to know if Mark has found new tenants yet (no) and suggests to her that they move in!
PIERCE: It would be you, me and Hendrix.
Chloe doesn't know whether to laugh or cry at what she's heard so asks instead if he is serious! Pierce thinks it will help his relationship with Hendrix as they will all be together.
CHLOE: This is a really big step for us Pierce.
"I want to be with you," he reassures her with, even though she thinks its crazy... but the smile disappears when she asks, "what will Hendrix say?"
Lassiters Complex
As they make their way to Ramsay Street, Aaron and David are curious to know why Chloe has summoned them.
Their journey home is interrupted when Gary stops to subtly ask David about the symposium and if Clive and Beverly where there as a couple. David confirms that they were but acted in a professional manner, however when Gary starts asking some awkward, personal questions (like did Beverly and Clive share a room), David refuses to answer them. Playing it cool, Gary replies that he hoped his mum's antics at the dinner party didn't stuff them up.
Unfortunately David puts his foot in it by telling Gary that the pair shared a room and had a romantic meal too! "Nice," Gary says while trying to keep his reaction very cool and says his goodbyes to go have a wee chat with Clive!!!
Power Road
Elly is in floods of tears sitting in her car outside the bottle shop. She gets out of her car and stands looking at the shop.
The Waterhole
Chloe has told David and Aaron of Pierce's suggestion and asks if she is "crazy for wanting to do this?" Aaron comments "it's a big commitment" but she wants what they have, especially after witnessing it first-hand living with them. David tells her to follow her gut and seconds later, Aaron tells her to "go for it."
AARON: And good luck with your new landlord!
Hendrix isn't happy at the thought of moving "into a flea pit" despite Pierce trying to point out to him the pluses of living near the school and in a smaller house.
HENDRIX: My answer's no.
PIERCE: I'm not really asking for your permission mate.
HENDRIX: What, so I don't get a say?
PIERCE: I really think that this will bring us closer together. It is what we want... isn't it?
Hendrix doesn't reply at all before standing up and after his dad questions him, says he is going to pack his bags.
"Hey, what's up?" Harlow greets Hendrix with as she enters the bar and on his silence, asks if "live is still giving you lemons?!"
HENDRIX: Better! My genius father is moving us to Ramsay Street.
Harlow isn't impressed at all by this news as it means having "to see your stupid face every day." "And I have to see yours," is his comeback.
HENDRIX: Welcome to hell.
Power Road
Finn eventually finds Elly and gets into the car beside her. He explains that everyone is out looking for her just now, and on seeing where she is parked at, adds that neither of them "should be alone right now." Elly acknowledges "how bad this looks" and that she desperately wanted to go inside and get a bottle of anything. Finn praises her for not doing that but Elly fears that she can't trust herself to make any decisions currently.
ELLY: I just can't help thinking that this whole thing is somehow my fault.
FINN: How is that even possible?
ELLY: It's me, it's my bad karma.
FINN: Elly!
ELLY: Finn, look at my track record.
After pausing for a moment, he tells her that "Shaun didn't deserve this" but it is nobody's fault. "So what are we meant to do now?" she asks but Finn doesn't have the answer but adds that if they are "going to get through this," they will "get through it together."
Hospital
Sheila and Gary are surprised to see each other at the hospital. "Don't tell me you've come for round 2?" Gary asks his mum and she is quick to remind him that "its my life!" and knows "how to handle my own affairs."
GARY: AFFAIRS!!! At least you got the word right! Mum, he's still loved up with Beverly!
Given Gary the pair have just about been shouting at each other, Sheila asks that they continue this fight at home! Both are then rendered speechless when they happen to see Beverly kiss Clive saying "thank you for being you" before they part and Clive says that he will see her tomorrow!
Clive walks then straight towards where Sheila and Gary are standing, definitely surprised to see them there! Gary then suddenly grabs him by the lapels of his suit and says its lucky he is in a hospital because he will "need some stitches!"
