Ramsay Street
Imogen is upset, and sitting on the kerb by Hermione. Callum comes and sits by her, encouraging her to talk. She tells him what's wrong. Callum is sympathetic, saying she's awesome and the guy is an idiot. She replies that he's just older and complicated. She gets a text from Terese reminding her about her appointment with the counsellor.
IMOGEN: Just another reminder about how truly screwed up I am.
She thanks him for listening, and he sighs as she leaves.
Lassiters Reception
Paul tells Rhiannon that Mason will show her the housekeeping programme. She's not impressed, as she wants to be at Reception. Paul says it's about presentation, remarking about her hair. Terese comes to see what's going on, and Paul introduces them. Terese calls Paul aside and confirms it's the same Rhiannon that reported him to the police. Paul says it was a misunderstanding and assures Terese that he's adjusted the budget so it won't cost any extra to hire Rhiannon. Rhiannon wanders over and says she's a real people person and wants to work on the front desk. Terese says she's not trained. Rhiannon says she's a quick learner, but Terese repeats that she can't be on the front desk, and Mason says they have to go upstairs. Rhiannon scowls at Terese and flounces off with Mason. Terese sighs.
Harold's
Susan comes in to find Karl bidding on a drum kit for Jackson, because apparently the set in the garage is only fit for the tip.
SUSAN: Not like you to spend money on anything, Karl, but drums?
Karl wants to encourage Jackson, but Susan says it should be Rhiannon who encourages him. Karl says she couldn't afford it, and besides, Susan is buying Jackson a new mattress!
SUSAN: You're not seriously going to resurrect The Right Prescription with a 9 year old. Even The Partridge Family drew the line somewhere.
Susan asks if it could give Rhiannon the impression that they thought Jackson was their responsibility.
KARL: Nah, that wouldn't happen. What harm could it do?
Lassiters - the Hotel Room
Mason explains to Rhiannon what needs to be done: there's a checklist, which Terese says is gospel. Rhiannon wants to know what Terese's problem is.
MASON: She doesn't have one. She's cool. It's her job. She takes it seriously.
Rhiannon complains that she could do better at Reception, but Mason tells her they should do some work.
MASON: I'll dust, you strip.
RHIANNON: What, now? You just told me to work.
MASON: No, I'm talking about stripping the bed, Rhiannon.
She says she was joking and tickles him with the duster.
Harold's
Karl is calling someone about the drum kit when Rhiannon comes in on her break. She tells Karl that he'll have to pick Jackson up. Karl's taken aback that she won't be home, but Rhiannon goes on to ask him to give Jackson dinner.
RHIANNON: And don't worry about bedtime. He'll go when he's tired, usually after Law and Order. He loves that show.
KARL: OK.
RHIANNON: Any probs, just give us a text. Good on ya, Karlmeister.
Rhiannon leaves. Karl frowns, then rings back to cancel the order for the drum kit.
Lassiters Reception
Terese is greeting a Mr Hayes, when Rhiannon dashes up and says there's an important message. The Clinic called to say Imogen has not turned up for her appointment. After finding out nobody else is available, Terese asks Rhiannon to take Mr Hayes to his room, adding that Mr Hayes is a regular customer. Rhiannon tells him it's his lucky day because she did his room herself and it's looking spectacular. He hopes so. Terese calls Imogen, who doesn't answer.
No 22 - garden
Imogen gets a phone call from the Clinic which she ignores. She tips a load of chocolate and cakes out of her bag, and starts opening one. Terese arrives home and Imogen puts the stuff back in her bag. Terese wants to know why Imogen didn't go to her session. First she says she didn't feel like it, then she says she forgot. Terese says she sent a text, so Imogen claims her phone was dead. Terese doesn't believe her, and wants to see her phone. She grabs Imogen's bag and everything falls out.
TERESE: It's OK.
IMOGEN: No! It's not OK. Nothing is OK.
Imogen dashes out leaving Terese looking concerned.
Lassiters - the Hotel Room
Mr Hayes complains that the sheets are stained. Rhiannon suggests that he could sleep on the other side (although she claims she's joking). He's understandably annoyed, and Mason tries to smooth things over. When Mr Hayes has gone to the bar, Rhiannon complains that she doesn't like housekeeping - she wants to work at Reception. Mason explains that Terese won't put her on the front desk, because they hire people who speak in a certain way. Rhiannon decides that she needs to learn to "speak proper".
Lassiters Complex
Terese finds Imogen sitting on a bench. Imogen says she's mental and that's why no- one wants her. Terese assures her she's not mental, and asks her if it's about a boy, which Imogen confirms. She nearly ate the stuff her mum saw, but it felt good not to do it.
IMOGEN: He doesn't know I exist and now he's with someone else, and it really, really hurts.
Terese hugs her. Imogen wonders what's wrong with her, since he doesn't feel the same way. Terese says it's life and sometimes it's really hard.
Charlie's
Susan is looking at a wine list when Rhiannon comes in, and asks what she's up to. Susan says she's buying some wine then going shopping, since they need more food than she thought. Susan's about to order when Rhiannon interrupts to get a coke. She asks Susan if she can help teach her to speak properly.
RHIANNON: You're a school principal. You sound pretty profesh, so got any tips?
SUSAN: Tips?
RHIANNON: Yeah.
SUSAN: OK, well, yes. Maybe the first thing is to not abbreviate everything so much. It's 'professional' not 'profesh' and 'Susan' not 'Suse'.
RHIANNON: I shouldn't call Karl...
SUSAN: 'Karlmeister'. No, probably not.
Susan agrees to help her, and Rhiannon says she has to get back. On her way out, she asks Susan to get her a can of hairspray: a big can and not the cheap stuff.
No 28
Susan and Karl chat about Jackson and how he didn't get his manners from his mum. They comment how Rhiannon will leave him with anybody. Susan tells Karl that she's agreed to give her elocution lessons, and they agree no more favours. They get a text from Rhiannon: "Can you put some tea aside for me too. Love ya" Susan wants to put down some ground rules, and Karl wishes her luck.
Lassiters - the Hotel Room
Paul is reprimanding Rhiannon for shortsheeting Mr Hayes' bed. She says it was a joke.
PAUL: A joke? He wasn't laughing when he checked out.
She suggests that they don't want rude guests at the hotel. Paul says that rude guests pay her wages, and Mr Hayes' company spend thousands of dollars at the hotel. Terese comes to see and she and Paul start to argue. Paul says that she should have been there, and Terese says that Paul shouldn't have hired Rhiannon. Terese promises to contact Mr Hayes in the morning, as she's going home. He's annoyed, but she points out that he's free to do it himself.
No 28
Rhiannon puts Jackson's bag by the door to make space for the mattress. She thanks a surprised Karl and Susan for dropping him at school. Susan tells her they want to discuss some ground rules, but Rhiannon says she has to go. Both of them are supposed to be at work, and Rhiannon was supposed to be taking delivery of the mattress.
SUSAN: We were enjoying our empty nest, and now we're arguing about school.
Karl reluctantly agrees to take Jackson and calls him, then notices that the bag has gone. Susan looks in the garden, and Karl finds a shirt out the front. Susan says it's their fault.
