Recap
Elle watching suspiciously as Paul gives Rebecca a Yuri Fujiyama necklace.
Marco being taken away by the police under allegations of assault.
Sam surprising Dan by telling him that she's going to do some work at Rebecchi-Cammeniti.
Elle realising from Kirsten's Yuri Fujiyama pendant that she is having an affair with Paul and telling her to pack her bags.
Lassiter's
Elle is angrily tells Kirsten to get out her sight, after she shows an apparent lack of consideration for Paul's family.
Meanwhile, Dan and Sam are on a bench have a heavy chat. Sam knows that Dan is worried about having her around, but the law firm needs her. He accepts that she has to take the job and she promises not to get in the way of him and Libby. Dan scoffs a bit at that - there's nothing going on with him and Libby, but not by his choice. Dan thinks Sam should tell Rosie and Toadie about her condition because it stopped her working before. She insists it's not affecting her work. Dan admits that he's told Libby about it. Toadie appears and shakes Sam's hand, welcoming her aboard. He takes her inside to show her around. Just as well, 'cause it's, like, really easy to get lost in the labyrinth that is the spacious Rebecchi-Cammeniti offices.
The General Store
Lo and behold, Oliver and Carmella are actually having a conversation. Harold tells Carmella they can move in whenever they want. Oliver looks moody. Carmella asks if he has to go ahead with the assault charges. Ever the coward, Oliver says it's out of his hands now he's pressed charges. He refuses to change his story and tells Carmella she's being used by Marco. Apparently he's pathetic. Someone needs to take a look in the mirror.
Lassiter's
By the lake/pond, Kirsten tells Paul that Elle knows because of the pendant and she's not going to let it rest. Kirsten's worried she's going to lose her job but Paul promises it won't get out. Kirsten thinks Elle will tell Rebecca. Paul asks her to trust him when he says Elle won't spread it around.
Number 24
Carmella is complimenting Harold's cooking, and he her dress sense. Carmella admits that she went a bit crazy at the sales and requests that Harold doesn't mention it to Marco - she spent a bit more than she should have. Right on cue (wow, anyone would think he had a script or something), Marco enters saying something about lasagne. He tells Carmella she looks fantastic and Harold keeps diplomatically schtum, apart from to ask Marco if he's seen Tazzle, which he hasn't. Thankfully, Lou appears with the offending animal in a highly uncomfortable looking position. Seriously, who holds a cat like that? He's not a cuddly toy. Continuing his campaign for Pet Owner of the Year, Lou chucks Tazzle into Harold's arms and leaves. Marco's surprised at all the bags (no Yuri Fujiyama, but there's a clearly placed Kookai bag). She mentions her conversation with Oliver and Marco says she doesn't want her asking him for anything. Carmella gets annoyed about Oliver and Marco acting so acrimoniously towards each other and encourages him to be civil and perhaps even ask him to change his story. Marco reluctantly agrees.
Rebecchi-Cammeniti
Toadie reminds Libby that she and Darren were equal partners in the business so she deserves a fair share. He lets her know that she can call him whilst he's away. Libby's spoken to Steph and is surprised that they've accepted the no fault clause (and from Rebecca's look, she is too) because the council shouldn't be able to avoid the responsibility, even though they're paying monetary compensation. She makes it personal, asking if Charlie had been involved, he'd be satisfied with just a cheque. Rosie comes out of her office with Sam who she explains to Libby will be filling in for Toadie. Libby congratulates her and then departs from the awkwardness. Sam follows and asks if they can have a talk in Charlie's tonight. Once Libby's left, Toadie makes an announcement to his three female colleagues (side note: whoah, Sam is short) - he would like to reject the council's offer and push for a full apology. Rebecca is thrilled, but Rosie is annoyed she hasn't been consulted and takes him aside for a chat.
Lassiter's
Oliver is making demands of the kitchen staff when Marco arrives with the order. Oliver once again sees fit to act like an imbecile. He suggests if Marco asks him to change his story, he might, but Marco stays silent.
OLIVER: I knew it. Every time I over-estimate you, you disappoint me.
MARCO: Likewise.
Oh good, so we've established they're both jerks. Can we leave this scene now, please? Ah wait, not before Oliver accuses Marco of being childish, Marco asks him to stop messing with his family, Oliver shouts that it's not his family and makes a really ill-advised comment about the fruit and vegetable mafia (rather than the root vegetable mafia as I first heard).
Charlie's
Sam requests that Libby keeps her knowledge about her bi-polar to herself and Libby willingly agrees. Sam doesn't want to be defined by it as she has been in the past and wants to reclaim who she is. Libby tells Sam that she didn't know Dan was married, but Sam says there's no need to apologise, he's just a really good guy.
Ramsay Street
As they both leave Number 30, Dan and Rosie discuss Sam's new job. Rosie asks if this is making things complicated for him and Libby, but Dan says that he and Libby and just friends and he and Sam are getting divorced anyway.
On the other side of the road, Steve, Ned and Riley watch on, amused, as a cross-armed Lou and Harold have a bit of a barney about the length and quality of the tables in their respective caravans. Harold accuses Lou of "motor-home envy".
HAROLD: If you want me, I shall be in my luxurious travel home.
LOU: Oh dream on, old man, dream on.
Lassiter's
Back in the kitchen, Oliver and Paul discover the health department are conducting an unscheduled inspection. Oliver thinks, rightly, that this means someone has made a complaint and tells Paul that this is Marco's payback for their earlier argument. Paul is not impressed at Oliver's personal life threatening their business and warns that he better sort this out.
Charlie's
Rosie, Steph and Toadie are at the front to plan with those involved the plan of action regarding gaining a formal apology from the council. Mrs Wallace speaks up and asks if "that woman" (Steph) has to be there. Toadie says she's there for support, but Evelyn would still be happier if she left. Steph tells her that her proxy vote was used without her knowledge, which was her fault and she's there to take full responsibility and with her permission, to demand that council be made accountable. Mrs Wallace agrees that they can proceed. Everyone appears to be in favour of holding out for a full apology, despite the generous compensation offered. Rebecca suggests that part of the compensation money be used for a community project, like a memorial for the kids. Sam puts forward the idea of an education fund in the name of the three who died in order to help other kids in the future. Mrs Wallace says that Jessica would have loved that. Libby watches Dan as he smiles at Sam.
Lassiter's
Paul has brought Kirsten to a hotel room to discuss the situation. Paul is worried that Elle hates him. Kirsten tells Paul (and he agrees) that this has to stop. It's over now, for good. She's sad that he regrets being with her but Paul says he doesn't. Um guys, you're standing a bit close together for two people who say it's over. And, er, my definition of "over" doesn't include kissing either, but that doesn't seem to stop these two.
Lassiter's
Marco and Oliver are in the kitchen when Elle enters asking after her father, who Oliver says is inspecting rooms with Kirsten. This is clearly the good news Elle hoped for. She leaves. Oliver tells Marco to take away all the produce he's brought and mentions the health inspectors fiasco. Marco doesn't deny it and Oliver tells him it's cost them their supply contract with Lassiter's. Ouch.
In the hotel room, Paul is rebuttoning his shirt, and the bed's all mucked up so I think we're meant to understand that something untoward has been going on. He says they've got to stop doing this, which seems a little too late. He tells Kirsten she's beautiful and deserves better than him. They agree this is it and I get a terrible sense of déją vu. They say goodbye, addressing each other as Mr Robinson and Miss Gannon, and shake hands. They kiss, just as Elle walks in, horrified. She calls Paul "a foul, horrible, revolting man" for not caring about anyone but himself and says that Rebecca needs to know exactly what sort of person he is, so she's going to tell her. Needless to say, Paul's not too keen on this idea.
The General Store
I've just realised that Carmella and Marco are wearing matching blue, stripy tops. Anyway, Carmella is chastising Marco for losing their biggest contract and making the situation with Oliver worse. They're effectively out of business without Lassiter's. Oliver comes in and Carmella drags him over. She recounts the stupid things that they've both done and tells them both to grow up before leaving with Chloe.
Lassiter's
Paul goes after Elle, but she's already reached Rebecca outside the law office. Rebecca happily tells Elle, and Paul as he approaches, that they've won the class action, having achieved a payout and a public apology (fast work, Rebecchi-Cammeniti). Paul acts pleased whilst Elle looks furious. Paul agrees to buy the bubbly for the celebration and Rebecca follows her colleagues into Charlie's. Elle gives Paul her best evil stare before marching away.
Charlie's
The staff at Rebecchi-Cammeniti are happily celebrating whilst Paul thanks Elle. She says she did it for Rebecca, not him. He promises that it's over and she wants to believe him. She can't understand why he would risk Rebecca and neither does he. He doesn't want to lose Rebecca or Elle.
Toadie makes a speech thanking Rebecca for her determination and pestering and raises a toast to her. She plays down her part, but is proud to have been involved in the cause. She goes to the side to hug Paul. Toadie announces that he's leaving tomorrow to lend his legal expertise to the people of East Timor. Steph overhears and asks how long he'll be gone for. Toadie says it's an open-ended contract. Right, so that will be about as long as it takes for you to get bored of wearing tights every night, eh, Toad?
