SUSAN: Trust me Karl, this trip will go a lot smoother if you refrain from bringing up the past.
Number 26
Ruth brings Lance a shirt she bought at the shops. Anne arrives and asks if they can take the movie they taped last week over to Billy's. Anne tells them about Libby going missing and then heads back to see Billy. Lance says that he should go too as Billy will probably want his mates around, but Ruth tells him to sit down and mind his own business.
Country Road
Susan asks Karl about injuries from falling off a horse, if there's dangers of brain damage or spinal damage. Karl thinks as Libby is an inexperienced rider, she probably wasn't going very fast and she would have worn a hard hat. Susan wonders about the horse bolting and Libby being thrown off. Karl says they can't speculate. He tells her to remain positive. Susan says it'll be impossible to find someone out in the bush, Libby could be in a ditch and it could take days to find her.
Number 28
Anne turns off the movie as Billy is clearly too preoccupied worrying about Libby. He wishes his parents would call. Anne suggests they look for a list of Libby's friends in her address book in order to find out where Libby was staying in Carrington Bend. Billy starts calling Libby's uni friends.
The Bush
Karl is struggling to get any reception on his phone. Susan says Billy will get worried if he doesn't hear from them. Karl suggests they make a phone call at the next town and maybe stop to get something to eat.
SUSAN: I don't want to stop, I want to get to Carrington Bend!
KARL: Alright, you're not the only one...
SUSAN: Then stop trying to turn this into some kind of Sunday outing.
KARL: I'm suggesting that if we're stopping anyway, we can easily pick up...
SUSAN: I know exactly what you're suggesting, I am capable of processing information. Thank you.
KARL: Don't do this Susan.
Susan walks away and gets into the car.
KARL: You may wish you were with anyone else, I suppose you do, but you're not, you're stuck here with me. We might as well at least be civilised with each other.
Susan turns on the radio. Karl tells her she won't pick up any station out here, but Susan gives an angry look at Karl. He tells her she might as well try, and they drive off.

Amy asks Lance why he gets Ruth to shop for him when he doesn't like the clothes. Amy wants him to tell her, but he says he can't. She suggests he take them back and exchange them for clothes he likes. Amy tells him this is his chance to stand up for himself, no more daggy shirts ever again.
The Bush
Susan and Karl approach a farmer, asking him for a place they can make a telephone call. The farmer is very slow talking and talks about a place forty miles away that used to have a phone until the store burned down. There is somewhere another 35 miles from there though. Karl asks about the farmer's phone. The farmer then slowly gives them directions to where he lives. Susan and Karl share an exasperated look, and then thank the farmer but they'll press on. They go to the car, Susan suggests she drive and starts to argue with Karl about it.
KARL: You're not in the frame of mind to be driving.
SUSAN: I know exactly what frame of mind I'm in, you're just being precious.
KARL: That is not fair!
SUSAN: A car is a car, brakes, steering wheel, accelerator...
KARL: Just because you can ride a bicycle doesn't mean you can ride a Harley Davidson.
SUSAN: Oh for god's sake Karl, I can drive your stupid toy.
KARL: It's not a toy, it's a classic motor vehicle.
SUSAN: It's a midlife crisis and you know it!
Karl reluctantly hands Susan the keys as she tells him to get in.
Number 28
Ruth checks on Billy to see if he's heard anything. Billy doesn't understand why his parents haven't called. Anne suggests they tried calling when he was on the phone, but Billy says they would have kept trying until they got through. Bill asks to borrow Ruth's car, he can't keep sitting here doing absolutely nothing. Ruth says he can. Billy says he'll get a map to Carrington Bend and then ask a local for the horse- riding place. Anne says he wouldn't get there until dark and then he wouldn't be able to start looking. Ruth says if there's no news by tomorrow morning, he can take the car. Billy thanks her, Ruth suggests they go for a coffee and she'll stay at the phone. Billy says if his parents do call, he'd rather be here to talk to them himself.
The Coffee Shop
Amy is admiring the clothes she got her and Lance. Lance is impressed she managed to stay focused and stay out of the chick boutiques. Amy is impressed with the clothes and say they'll look good on Lance, everyone needs their own image. When Lance asks what image he has, Amy says he's a work in progress, but assures him that is a good thing.
Country Road
Susan and Karl are at a cross roads, Susan is looking at the notes she made, she did a sketch of the fork in the road but the guy was talking so quickly she's not sure she got it down right. She spots a sign behind the trees, recognising it. She's sure that's what the guy said.
KARL: Are you sure you're sure, or are you saying that to shut me up.
SUSAN: I'm sure, but if it has the added effect of shutting you up, that's a bonus.
Number 26
Amy is playing with Bonnie, waiting for Lance. Lance comes through to model his new clothes. Amy says this is almost catwalk material. She kisses him, calling him cute. Amy wonders what his mum is going to say, he'll have to show her these. Lance suggests he wear them without saying anything, his mum will think he had them this whole time. Amy says she'll want to know what happened to the other stuff she bought him.
AMY: Don't look so worried. What mother wouldn't be pleased to see her little boy blossom into a fashion statement?
Number 28

She says she fell off her horse and it abandoned her, but the SAS came and found her. She's got a couple of bruises but she's okay and she'll see them later. Billy is relieved, until he realises that his mum and dad haven't caught up with Libby when they should really be there by now. He wonders why they haven't called.
Country Road
Susan pulls over.
SUSAN: This is not the time to worry about your stupid car. A bit of dust is not going to kill it!
Karl is worried about the fact they're clearly lost.
KARL: In the last half an hour have you seen anything that vaguely resembles civilisation? Maybe a farm or a telephone pole? A cow even? As far as I'm concerned we are lost.
SUSAN: We are not lost.
KARL: I just know we should have taken that other road.
SUSAN: Oh how do you know? Your amazing intuition?
Susan drives off, yelling 'and we are not lost!'
Number 26
Lance is worried about speaking to his mum, thinking she's going to freak. Amy leads him in to speak to Ruth, showing off the new top. Ruth thinks it looks nice, but wonders why she bothered buying other clothes if he already has some new ones. Lance says he swapped the ones he got for this. Ruth shrugs it off, and wonders if he didn't like the ones she got him, why didn't he just tell her? Lance thought she would get upset, but she says there's no point her buying him things he doesn't like. Lance says he should buy his own clothes. Ruth agrees and says the top looks good on him.
Country Road
It's night time, as the car stops. Susan wonders what is wrong with the car, is it out of petrol? Karl says it isn't but goes to check out the engine, the two of them continuing to squabble throughout. Susan thinks she should have hired a car, she'd be there by now. Karl says she'd be lost by herself rather than lost with him. He tries the engine again but it won't start. Susan starts walking away.
KARL: Where are you going?
SUSAN: To flag down a car! Preferably one with a roof!
KARL: Don't be ridiculous Susan, we haven't seen another car for hours! Come on, I don't want to send another search party for you too!
Susan stops and glares angrily at Karl.
Number 28
Billy gets off the phone, his parents are still out of range. He thinks about calling the police to find out if there has been any accidents. Anne thinks if there had been, the police would have been in touch with them. Anne tells him not to stress out, they'll be fine, their phone is probably not working. Billy thanks Anne for being here.
ANNE: I know you'd do the same if Lance ever went missing.
BILLY: Yep, we'd hang out at your place and see who gets what out of his CD collection.
The phone rings and Billy answers. After a short call, he hangs up and tells Anne it was Jack O'Connor who wants to talk about the furniture business. Anne gloomily asks if he's decided. Billy says he won't learn any more at school than if he was working. He says it's bad timing, it'll be difficult to concentrate. Anne says Libby is fine, and his parents will be back tomorrow morning or even later tonight.
Number 26
Lance tells Amy that now he's on a roll, there are heaps of things he should speak up about. He wants better breakfast cereal, and white bread instead of wholemeal. Amy thinks she's created a monster, but Lance says there's nothing wrong about speaking up for yourself. Amy suggests they go to a new dance club. Lance wants to go to a school friend's party, but Amy says he's lame and it would be for computer nerds only. She leads him out to the club, but Lance stops her saying he promised his friend to go to his party. He's going to the party, and if she wants to go to the club she can go by herself or with one of her friends. Amy wants to go with him. Lance says if she goes to the party they might be able to go to the club after. Amy agrees but sulks about it. They say goodbye to Ruth as they leave.
Country Road
Karl has no idea what's happened. Susan suggests they walk until they see a mechanic. Karl says it's too dark and they shouldn't go anywhere tonight, he thinks they should stay here and walk in the morning. They'll have to sleep in the car. They sit down in the car.
KARL: I have one word for you Susan. Directions.
SUSAN: I have many words for you Karl. The only one that doesn't contain four letters is car. Stupid male ego car!
