Sarah and Matt are kissing. Sarah is sad that Matt is leaving in two days; she wishes he could be a country cop in the city! They go to kiss again and are interrupted by Ben who is leaving the house to finalise the details for his fast driving course. Caitlin comes home.
CAITLIN: What's up?
BEN: Well the living room just lost its G rating!
Ben tells Caitlin to come down the track with him to give Matt and Sarah some privacy. Caitlin needs to get something to eat first. Ben tells Matt and Sarah he will be out of their hair soon!

Libby is sitting on the kitchen counter while Darren is sitting on the floor helping Lolly colour. Libby thinks he's a natural at parenting. She comments on it being strange without Marlene around but Darren says she's here in spirit and shows Libby the cushion with Marlene's photo on it. Darren is looking forward to quality time with Lolly without Marlene's fussing. Libby says she wouldn't mind some quality time with him herself... so long as she gets her own crayons!
Coffee Shop
Caitlin questions why they aren't in a rush to get to the track and Ben explains he is giving Sarah and Matt some space. Caitlin thinks it is because Sarah still doesn't want her around and says Sarah isn't the only one with problems. Ben asks what is going on with her and Caitlin says she wishes there were more people like Billy around! She assures Ben she's not going to try to steal him from Anne. She says at least she's going to see Mum and Dad; maybe they will decide to take her with them. Ben thinks he should come with her as it may be the last change they all get to spend time together for a year.

Susan quietens down a small group of students in a classroom at lunch time.
SUSAN: Over the school holidays I had some pretty disturbing news.
TOADIE: What, you mean they actually confirmed that Billy is your son?
Susan tells them that the education department is thinking about closing down Erinsborough High, to merge with Elliot Park High. She hands out some petitions. Toadie pulls out one she handed him the other week. Susan takes a look and says the residents of Ramsay Street alone will not be enough! She tries to persuade them that they have had good times at the school and that they're going to have to put up a fight.

Libby returns with a stack of books to study. She is happy to be interrupted by Lolly... or Darren! Darren goes to answer a knock at the door. It's Martin. The share house he was staying in has been sold and he thought he could stay with his girlfriend... but she has broken up with him!
Erinsborough High
Lance and Toadie are heading to their lockers. Lance doesn't want to change schools again. Toadie is leaving but guesses he would be sad to see the place go. Lance says they should try to come up with something.
TOADIE: Yeah, with my brains and my good looks we can't fail!
Susan comes along and Toadie tells her not to worry as they're going to save the school from being closed. Susan asks what they've got in mind. Toadie says he doesn't know, but it's going to be huge! Susan looks less than convinced!
Number 22
Libby is making lunch.
LIBBY: Hey guys, don't you worry about helping me with any of this, OK? I'll just do it because I'm a girl!
MARTIN: That's an excellent attitude, Libby! Sasha always accused me of being a sexist pig for thinking like that!
Martin doesn't want to move back in with his parents. Darren says he could stay here for a few days and Libby looks horrified. Darren says it will make working on their renovation easier. Libby brings them their lunch and Martin says he wouldn't mind something to wash it down with too.
Erinsborough High
Toadie enters the classroom, telling his classmates in a booming voice that they need something to stop the school from being closed.
TOADIE: It needs to be big, it needs to be dramatic and it needs to get the whole community up in arms.
LANCE: We've already got you for that, Toadie!
Toadie suggest a protest and hunger strike.
LANCE: You'd last about two- and- a- half seconds on a hunger strike, Toadie!
Anne suggests a newsletter but Toadie thinks it is a boring idea. Anne says it doesn't have to be dry; it can be as funny as they want to make it. Lance can do some cartoons for it. Everyone agrees and Toadie tells Lance to get started on it!
Number 28
Susan is surprised to find Libby studying at home and asks if she has had a fight with Darren. Libby says you have to spend time with someone to have a fight with them! In the meantime she can confide in Susan... who is not about to shack up with Darren!

Ben appears and asks what the story is. Karl says they're all in the dark but it should be back to normal soon.
BEN: I don't think anything is ever normal around here!

Billy tells Anne he spoke to Caitlin and Anne is annoyed because Caitlin will think she's jealous. Billy says Caitlin was OK about it, although he thinks she's lonely. Anne decides she should make more of an effort with her. Billy says it will have to wait though.
BILLY: We're in the middle of a blackout, right? And your Mum's not here, and we're completely alone.
ANNE: Right... so you want to play Scrabble?
Number 28
Karl kisses Susan, saying there's something romantic about being in a blackout with the right woman. Susan is deep in thought and pats him on the head! She tells Karl she had a letter today from her friend Justine about a principal's position. She doesn't think it would be right to leave when she is encouraging the kids to save the school... and the job is at Wangaratta. If she got it, they would have to leave Erinsborough.
