No.26
Phil accuses Jen of being embarrassed to be seen with him, and she says anyone would be in those clothes! She thinks his behaviour has been ridiculous recently.
PHIL: I'm scared. I'm jealous. I'm intimidated. I feel old, I feel useless, I feel dull and uninteresting compared to that young, virile, sexy, good-looking, well-dressed ex-lover of yours!
JEN: You're jealous of Brook?!
PHIL: Come on, Jen, how many other ex-lovers have you been seeing day and night recently?
JEN: I have not been seeing him day and night!
PHIL: No?
JEN: Anyway, he is an old friend as well as an ex! I had a life before I met you, you know. Or would you like me to rub it all out and pretend I was made of stone until you breathed life into me?
PHIL: That's not what I want and you know it.
JEN: Stop trying to control my life, Phil! I don't try to control yours. I like Brook. I like seeing him, and I can't see any reason why that should bother you. In fact, I can't see what business it is of yours, period!
PHIL: Jen...
JEN: No!
PHIL: Jen...
JEN: No! I will not be manipulated and coerced by your insecurities. It is your problem, you fix it. Goodnight.
She storms out. Phil is about to go after her, but just then Helen, Lucy and Rosemary arrive back from the airport. Rosemary has a new perm and it looks rather like she has a sheep on her head. She asks Phil if he's been to a fancy dress party(!)
No.24
Marlene is sulking crossly at a table in the living room while Sam and Annalise cower from her wrath on the sofa. Sam offers Marlene a drink but she says she can get it herself and stalks off to her bedroom. Annalise suggests that they move out - she can't cope with the atmosphere anymore. Sam says he can't leave Marlene when he needs her. Annalise wonders if Sam wants to move out at all, but he assures her he does - if only they can get No.32.
The Pub
Lou is reading Cheryl's figures and tells her Rosemary will never go for it as Cheryl has upped the asking price. Lou tells Cheryl she must face facts - she could blow the whole deal just because she doesn't like Rosemary.
Ramsay Street
Marlene tells Sam that she's taking the garden gnome to work with her for protection(!)
Lucy comes over to see Mark. She's calmed down a bit and tells Mark that they need to talk - she needs to know where they stand. Mark tells Lucy that he let them both down, but Lucy says that she really wanted it to happen.
LUCY: You're turning something so beautiful into something sordid. I don't think what we did was sordid.
MARK: I wasn't making it sordid. It was a lapse though. I promised God, the Church and myself that I'd be celebate. And I failed. I gave in to temptation.
LUCY: What am I, the devil?
MARK: Lucy...
LUCY: You're making me feel like I am.
MARK: Look, I just need time to work this out for myself, by myself.
LUCY: What am I supposed to do? Sit back and wait while youbattle with you conscience? I don't think I can do that, Mark.
Outside the Coffee Shop
It's raining! Lou comes over and apologises for advising Phil to dress young to impress Jen. He tells Lou not to worry about it.
No.26
Lucy is stomping around the kitchen making a cup of tea. She sits down with Rosemary and tells her that she's had enough. Rosemary says she's surprised that Lucy has stayed in Erinsborough so long - maybe she needs to get away.
LUCY: I'd be on the next plane if I had somewhere like New York to escape to!
ROSEMARY:(thoughtfully) Now, Lucy, do you mean that?
LUCY: Do I ever!
ROSEMARY: Hmm, well in that case, you and I may have some very serious talking to do!
Bric-a-brac Shop
Sam comes in to find the phone off the hook with the racing results playing to itself. Sam tells Marlene that she's to blame for the huge phone-bills - she's been forgetting to hang up.
SAM: You need help.
Outside The Pub
Lou is telling Jen that he was the one who advised Phil to dress younger - he was feeling ignored by Jen. But Phil did do it for Jen's benefit, even if it went wrong. Jen thinks she's got some making-up to do.
Bric-a-brac Shop
Marlene is adamant that she hasn't rung the racing line today and Sam is very skeptical. He tells her that she should go and see Karl Kennedy for an assessment. Marlene is horrified and says she's not going barry. Marlene says it could have been Sam himself - she reckons he could be trying to send her around the bend himself so that he and Annalise can move out!
MARLENE: It's not going to work. I want you out of my house and out of my life and I don't care if I never see the two of you again!

Ananlise tells Helen that she still can't find a job - she's fed up of being passed over. Helen wonders if Annalise is aiming a bit high, but Annalise wants to prove herself. Helen tells Annalise that she's very talented at rejuvenating small businesses - maybe she should look into that.
No.26
Rosemary and Joel are meeting with Lou and Cheryl. Rosemary tells Cheryl that her asking price is far too high. It's a failing business and she only has one offer - and it's only half what Cheryl paid. Cheryl is shocked, but Rosemary says Cheryl has let the business run down.
ROSEMARY: You would have done better sticking to what you know best. Running a local pub.
Cheryl bristles and refuses to sell at Rosemary's offer price.
Outside The Pub
Phil tells Jen that he wants to tell her how he feels.
PHIL: Ever since we met, we've been playing the game by your rules. I'm not saying I wasn't happy to go along with that at first.
JEN: And now?
PHIL: Well, as you know, I've got to get what I want out of this relationship too, otherwise what's the point? You wanted me on your own terms. You wanted intimacy when you feel like it and space when you don't. I feel like a dusty old sofa that you come and rest on after you finish having a good time, doing whatever it is you're doing.
JEN: You're much more to me than that.
PHIL: You didn't like it when Julie's memory came up and yet you can't understand why I'm upset about Brook. And he's real, Jen, not a ghost.
JEN: I know. Look, I'm really sorry...
PHIL: I love you, Jen. And I'm committed to you. But unless you're willing to turn around and accept me, and my family, and my life, as part of your life, then...it's up to you.
No.24
Sam comes in and Annalise tells him excitedly that she's going to be his partner - doing the paperwork for the business. She opens a bottle of champagne and reckons she's going to make Handy Sam's the most thriving small business there is. But Sam is distracted and tells her the story about Marlene.
SAM: Nan's thrown us out. Looks like we're homeless.

When Lucy has gone, Rosemary tells Helen that she hasn't had a decision from Lou and Cheryl yet.
No.30
Mark tells Lucy that he's sorry for hurting her - he didn't mean to. He's made a decision - he loves God and the Church, but he's not cut out to be a priest.
MARK: I love you. And I want you more than anything in the world. And it's not too late. You can still have me.
LUCY:(starting to cry) Oh, no!
MARK: What, you don't want me?
LUCY: I thought you rejected me. So I desperately wanted to get away. And yes, it is too late. I've accepted a job with Rosemary in New York. The tickets are booked...I leave tomorrow.
