Outside the Court
PHIL: Good job, Caroline, you fooled them.
PAUL: Yeah, let's just get out of here, eh?
DETECTIVE STEWART:(running after them) What's the big idea? What do you mean, we pressured you into identifying Carter?!
CAROLINE: That's how it felt.
DETECTIVE STEWART: And now you say it was too dark to see that night.
CAROLINE: I can't be absolutely sure that it was him!
DETECTIVE STEWART: Thanks for nothing! I've spent a great deal of police time and money protecting you and your sister - and for what?
PAUL: Look, she just doesn't know any more that what she actually saw on that night. Now, would you just leave her alone!
DETECTIVE STEWART:(to Caroline) After all you've been through. I don't believe you could throw the case like that. If you had doubts, why didn't you tell me? (Showing her some papers) Have a look at this. Your original statement. Just read the parts I've underlined. You were pretty sure about everything then. Isn't that a fair assessment of what you really think?
CAROLINE: It depends...
DETECTIVE STEWART: Did you read it?
CAROLINE: Yes! Paul, I just want to go home.
DETECTIVE STEWART: Where are your glasses, Christina? You read the oath without them, too. I thought you couldn't see to read without your glasses.
PAUL: She's wearing contact lenses.
DETECTIVE STEWART: Really? That's interesting. The other day you told me you couldn't wear contact lenses. Christina, mind if I have a look behind your ear?
PHIL: What for?
DETECTIVE STEWART: If you're who you say you are, I'll find an attractive birthmark.
PAUL: Look, would you just mind your own business...
But Phil has made a break for it and Detective Stewart runs after him, pinning him on to a car bonnet.
DETECTIVE STEWART: No, you don't, mate.
CAROLINE: Oh, thank God.
PAUL: Yeah, but what about Chrissie?!
