Mark tells Jane he loves her. They kiss and then Jane heads to the office. Gail awkwardly tells Jane there has been an important call from the US... from Mrs. Mark Granger. It seems Mark is married.
Daniels Corporation
Jane is furious that Mark could have lied to her. Paul tells Jane she doesn't know for sure that Mark is married and she should hear what he has to say.
Coffee Shop
Sharon comes into the kitchen and wants to talk to Henry but he says their last talk resulted in Bronwyn not speaking to him! Sharon points out that he practically forced it out of him.
HENRY: So I'm nosy... you didn't have to give in!
Henry concedes it was partly his fault and asks Sharon if she's sure she has the facts right about Jimmy and Bronwyn. Sharon says it looked pretty bad. Henry says all he really cares about is mending things with Bronwyn. Sharon offers to talk to her; she will be subtle about it. Henry is not convinced that's possible!
Lassiters exterior
A mother is taking a photo of her daughters with Santa in front of the Christmas tree while Madge serves customers outside the Waterhole. Rob is there and is still angry with Madge for giving Gloria a job. He doesn't want her working behind a bar and being chatted up. Madge says it is possible for Gloria to say no. She tells Rob to loosen up otherwise things are going to get worse.
Daniels Corporation
Mark comes into the office and Jane confronts him about being married. Mark asks why she would think that and Jane tells him about the call from Mrs. Granger. Mark laughs, which provokes Jane even more, and he picks up the phone to call Mrs. Granger back.
MARK: Hello, mother? It's Mark. Yeah, I hear you're trying to call me.
It's clear from the look on Jane's face that she realises she has been a complete idiot.
Number 28
Sharon comes to talk to Bronwyn about Henry. Bronwyn doesn't want to talk about it, especially to Sharon. She is upset that Henry believed the story so readily. Sharon tells her how bad Henry feels. Bronwyn says Henry knows where to find her if he wants to talk.
Daniels Corporation
Mark comes off the phone and explains to Jane that his mother is Mrs. Mark Granger because he is Mark the third. He tells Jane she needs to have some faith in him if they are to have a future together. Jane says she got carried away in the wrong direction. They kiss. Paul and Gail come in and Jane explains Mrs. Granger is Mark's mother. Gail apologises for getting the wrong end of the stick.
Waterhole exterior
Gloria has been shopping and Rob gets excited, thinking she is coming home, but Gloria is planning to cook for Paul and Gail. She asks why Rob isn't at work and he says he's not much use the way he's feeling. Gloria tells him things could change if he just stops whinging about her weight. Nobody is eyeing her up; it's all in his mind. Until he sorts it out he can forget about her coming home!
Coffee Shop
Sharon returns and Henry says he's covered for her with Edith. Sharon tells Henry it's OK for him to go and see Bronwyn. Henry thinks he'll have to turn on the charm. Sharon suggests grovelling would be better. Henry says he'll use both!
Jane comes in to get something special for dessert and Henry suggests the strawberry flan. He tells Jane he's had a misunderstanding with Bronwyn and Jane says she knows all about those. She tells Henry about the mix- up with Mark's mother. Henry hopes Brownwyn will be as forgiving as Mark.
Number 22
Paul hands Gail the figures she agreed to look at. Gail refuses to let him mortgage the house so Paul suggests selling the jewellery he bought her on his first American trip! Gail sarcastically asks if he wants her wedding ring too. Paul defends himself; he's just trying to build up security for their family. There's no way Gail is going to have a baby while he risks everything they own; if he goes ahead then she's coming off the IVF programme.
Waterhole exterior
Madge refuses to get Rob another beer and tells him to go home. Rob says it's not a home any more, just a house! Madge tells Rob it's his own fault. Rob says he was happy with Gloria the way she was but Madge says Gloria wasn't, and after all her effort all he did was criticize her. He should be proud of Gloria and maybe follow her example as he's an absolute mess with middle aged spread! If he wants Gloria back he's going to have to smarten himself up.
Number 22
Paul accuses Gail of blackmailing him. Gail doesn't think she's being unreasonable to want to keep their things or to have a say in the decision. Paul says business is all about taking risks but Gail says this is a straight- out gamble. Gloria announces she's going to start cooking tea so she can stay on the right side of Paul and Gail since she has nowhere else to go. Gail asks if she is leaving Dad permanently.
GLORIA: Ah, probably not, but I'm getting a bit fed up with him wanting his own way about everything; never a thought for my opinion. But isn't that a typical man?
GAIL: Hmmm... it's beginning to seem that way!
Number 32
Jane and Mark come home to an empty house as Joe has taken Toby out for hamburgers. Jane is planning a terrific meal to make up for the way she acted. Mark tells her she doesn't have to make up for anything, but just trust him. Jane promises never to doubt him again.
Number 28
Henry brings Bronwyn a rather large pot plant as a peace offering. Bronwyn is still hurt that he believed all the rubbish about her. She explains she was going out with Tom Broadfield and let their families pressure them into getting engaged. Jimmy McMuntie found her crying at the engagement party and he was only comforting her when her dad caught them and assumed the worst. Henry kisses Bronwyn and says even if she had cheated on Tom it wouldn't have made any difference to him. Bronwyn is outraged that he thinks she is capable of cheating.
BRONWYN: Take your stupid plant and get out!
