Number 28
Daphne's sure the bracelet from her dad is a bribe. She wants Des to drive her to her father's so she can return it, but Des thinks that she should calm down before making any big decisions.

DAPHNE: I made my decision years ago. I didn't want anything to do with him then, and I don't want anything to do with him now.

Des thinks that Daphne should be grateful her father even cares; he hasn't seen his own dad since he was 12. Des knows that she has reason to be angry, but points out that her father could have changed a lot in their 8-year estrangement.

Coffee Shop
Mike teases Jane for hitting the books, but she confesses that she's looking into a few night courses for business admin. Mike complains that he hardly gets to see her as it is.

JANE: (kissing him) The course is part-time, you're not.

Scott enters the shop, and in the tradition of nearly every 80s summary I've done thus far, let me pause to laugh hysterically at Scott's outfit... Ahh, thank you. Scott's on edge because his genius Warren Murphy plan has backfired.

SCOTT: He's so straight I think Harold wants to have him stuffed and put on display!

Scott also expresses his worry about how excited Charlene is about going to a costume party with Warren... dressed as a rabbit... a rabbit's warren? Heh. Mike doesn't think Scott has anything to freak out about, "What guy's gonna fall for a girl with big buck teeth and floppy feet?"

Number 24
A guy that sees Charlene dressed up like a Playboy bunny, that's who, Mike. Harold has a conniption as Charlene parades her bunnylicious self, as does Madge. She orders Charlene to keep a coat on until she gets to the party. Madge leaves Harold to deal with Charlene, which isn't good news for Miss Bugs as Harold delivers her an ultimatum: if she doesn't find suitable employment in one week, she's going to have to take the job in Brisbane. Charlene begs for a fortnight, but Harold won't budge.

Number 28
Madge is asking Daphne for her chocolate moulds - she wants to make Harold some carob Easter choccies since he's allergic to regular chocolate. They get to talking about gifts, and Daphne shows Madge the bracelet from her father. Madge admits that Eileen filled her in on Daphne's troubled childhood - only because she was worried. Madge knows Daphne has every right to be angry with her dad, but states that parenting is a very difficult job sometimes. Daphne is soon talked into giving her father a second chance.

Exterior - Lassiter's
Rob brings the first serviced car back to the hotel. Gail's worried about him taking on all of the work by himself, so Rob promises he'll search for a helper. They head off for a coffee and Rob asks after Paul, hinting that Gail should keep a firm grasp on him, "He's husband material". And I'm sure Paul's many wives (past and future) would attest to that! Gail trots out the old 'we're just good friends' line, but Rob doesn't believe her.

Coffee Shop
Rob overhears Scott bemoaning his lack of cash and offers him a detailing job at his garage. Scott's intrigued - but more so for Charlene, he thinks that she'd be perfect. Rob's not so keen; he'd prefer a dude to a dudette, and no amount of sweet-talking from Scott and Jane will convince him otherwise.

Jane heads out with Scott to help him with Charlene's Easter egg as Gail rejoins Rob with their coffees. She reminds her dad that Charlene is about to become Harold's step-daughter - and offering her the job may give Harold incentive to invest in the garage.

ROB: Him? I've only met him once and that was enough. Biggest wowser around.

Hee, wowser! I still heart that word. Gail then wryly suggests that Paul could be an alternative investor, which doesn't impress Rob either for some reason.

Car/Fancy-pants house
Des drives Daphne through a posh-looking neighbourhood and pulls up outside Allen's house. Daphne walks up the driveway alone and stares at the big, imposing abode before her. Allen sees his daughter and calls out, while Daphne does the squinty-stare of impending flashbacks...

In our trip to the past, we see little Daphne (around 7-ish years old) excitedly showing her dad an Easter egg she got from next door, but Allen isn't impressed. He only gets one day off a week from work and doesn't want to spend it chasing her all over the place. He orders her to her room until dinnertime because he and Daph's mum are expecting company. Poor Lil'Daph rushes off, dropping her egg in the process.

Back in the present, Allen asks Daphne if she's okay. Handing her father the bracelet, Daphne dryly tells him that she's "far too old for all this Easter nonsense" (echoing the very words that Allen snitted at Lil'Daph in the flashback). Allen's all, 'touché'.

Number 24
Rob bustles in and asks Harold for Charlene. After Harold's done bellowing out the back door for her, Rob surprises him by apologising for acting like a galah the last time they met. He blames the many "cold ones" he drank. Charlene enters (wearing what looks like pyjamas, but was probably the bees knees in 80s jumpsuits at the time), and Rob immediately offers her the garage job. Charlene eagerly accepts and squeals her way back outside to tell Madge. Rob then continues his mission to woo Harold into investing in the garage, and adds that Jim Robinson has already agreed to throw a bit of money his way. Rob "wonders" if Harold would know of any other potential investors... Harold is duly reeled in.

Allen's Abode
Oh dear. I thought there was a cake on the table but it's actually Allen's straw hat! Eye test anyone? Fake cakes aside, Allen really wants Daphne to give him another chance; he doesn't want to be lonely in his old age. Daphne cautiously takes this in.

Wow. Short scene. And now I want cake.

Exterior - Lassiter's
Rob happily races up to Gail and kisses her on the cheek - her Harold idea worked like a charm! Harold is sorting out some figures with Jim as they speak! Gail smiles as her dad runs off weirdly, looking like a leprechaun.

Number 24
Madge wonders if Harold is really a suitable investor for the garage, but Harold thinks that if it's good enough for Jim, it's good enough for him. He intends on taking an active role at the garage too, none of this 'silent partner' business for him. Oh man, Rob's gonna be sooooooo stoked with that...

Allen's Abode
Des joins the duo, glad that Daphne and Allen are making a fresh start. Allen tells them he had a meeting with his solicitor and wants to look into setting up a trust fund for his future grandchild. Daphne wonders how her dad knew that she was pregnant - she's not even showing yet. Allen "thinks" that Mike must have told him when he called into the Coffee Shop looking for Daphne one day. Hmm, suspicious.

ALLEN: Anyway, I intend to see that this child will be well looked after. Everything that is needed, I'll give it to him.
DAPHNE: (annoyed) It just might be a girl.
ALLEN: Oh, the odds are it'll be a boy. Lawrence women are noted for providing sons; you're only an exception to the rule.
DAPHNE: (bitter) And don't I know it.

Daphne tells Des that they better head off. Before they leave, Allen tries to give the bracelet back to Daphne, but she just wants to take things step by step for now. As an afterthought, however, Daphne invites him to the Easter lunch they're having tomorrow.

Coffee Shop
Charlene celebrates her job news with Mike and Scott. Scott wants to party on with Charlene that night, but she reminds him about her commitment to Warren. As a compromise, she offers to celebrate with him now. And I'm sure that wasn't meant to sound as suggestive as I typed it...

They pass Des and Daph on the way out. Daphne asks Mike if he was the one to spill the beans about her pregnancy to Allen, but Mike can't recall telling him.

MIKE: In fact, I think he was the one that brought it up.

Curious, Des asks Daphne what's going on, but Daphne wants to ask him a favour. She wants Des to back her up with whatever she says to Allen at lunch tomorrow.

DES: Sounds easy enough. Why?
DAPHNE: I hope I'm wrong, but I've got an awful sneaking suspicion, and there's only one way to make sure. You're just going to have to trust me.

Des nods, but he and Mike look concerned.
