Recap
Charlene doesn't get on the bus to Brisbane.
No.24
Henry and Madge have arrived back from the bus station and are missing Charlene already. Henry makes Madge a cup of tea. Madge wonders if she's done the right thing in sending Charlene to Brisbane. But Henry says Scott won't stand in Charlene's way - she's wanted to be a mechanic since she was five.
Lassiter's Lake
SCOTT: I never, ever want to go through that again, OK?!
Charlene tells Scott that she loves him and she's here to stay. Eileen Clarke sees them kissing and looks disapproving.
Kitchen of the Coffee Shop
Daphne is in a bad mood. She asks Mike what her father actually said when he came in - apparently he just asked how she was and what Des was like.
Eileen comes in for some pork crackling and hints that it's no fun living on your own. Daphne invites her around for dinner tomorrow night. Eileen mentions that she's seen Scott and Charlene and Mike and Daphne look confused.
No.24
Charlene and Scott creep in through the back door.
CHARLENE: Mum's going to chuck a mental when she sees me.
SCOTT: I love you, Charlene, and I'll back you up, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. We're adults and it's about time they realised.
CHARLENE: You might make things worse.
SCOTT: I'm not leaving you, OK?
Henry comes out and is shocked to see them. Then Madge comes out.
MADGE: Charlene!
CHARLENE: Mum, I know what you're going to say, now don't get mad. Scott and I can explain everything!
(Later)
Everyone is sitting down in the living room.
CHARLENE: Mum, I couldn't leave Scott. I love him.
MADGE: You don't know what love means!
Madge rants the love means being responsible towards the other person - working things out together. Charlene will have to go to Brisbane on the next bus. Scott says that Charlene doesn't want to go. Madge asks him to leave! Scott reluctantly does.
CHARLENE: You had no right to speak to him like that. He was only trying to help me.
MADGE: I don't want to discuss family matters in front of outsiders, Charlene.
CHARLENE: Haven't you been listening? He's the reason I didn't go to Brisbane. I love him!
MADGE:(crossly) Oh, if I hear that word again! You are going to Brisbane, and that's final.
No.28
Des, Daphne and Mike are discussing Scott and Charlene. Mike decides to go and see Scott.
Daphne is still in a bad mood and Des talks to her about her father. He wants to know what happened between Daphne and her father that's got her so upset.
DAPHNE: My parents were responsible for the death of someone I cared about very deeply. And I'll never forgive them for it.
No.24
Madge is on the phone to Max - he's got Charlene's suitcase. Madge tells him that she'll be booking Charlene on the next bus. Charlene insists that she's not going.
MADGE: Charlene, you are going to Brisbane even if I have to drag you there!
Charlene says that the way she and Scott feel about each other is the real thing. But Madge thinks Charlene is just being a stubborn child.
Ramsay Street
Des and Mike have been out jogging and Mike goes over for a word with Scott. Mike isn't sure that Charlene will be able to stay in Erinsborough - Madge is hell- bent on her going.
No.24
Henry is late for work - he's due at a carnival to give out ice- cream. Henry advises Charlene to let Madge shout until she's run out of steam and then try to get a word in(!)
Madge comes out and says she's re- booked Charlene's ticket to Brisbane. Scott arrives at that moment and Madge tells him to keep out of it. Charlene thinks Madge is ashamed of her for not getting a job and Madge looks hurt and goes off to her bedroom.
Henry tells Charlene to consider Madge's feelings - she's only trying to do the best for Charlene. Scott says he'll meet Charlene down at the Coffee Shop later.
Pacific Bank
Des has a visit from Daphne's father. He's surprised, but tells his assistant (Larry) to show him in.
MR LAWRENCE: So. You're my daughter's husband. I'm impressed. I'd always hoped she'd marry someone who'd give her the security she always had as a child.
They sit down and Daphne's father (Allan) tells him that he wants to meet up with Daphne. Maybe he and Des getting to know each other first would soften the blow for Daphne. Des suggests a drink at the Waterhole at lunch- time (Why?? Why pick the pub next to the Coffee Shop?!)
Coffee Shop
Eileen is gossiping about Charlene and Scott. Daphne tells her about the Brisbane business and that Romeo and Juliet had it easy compared to those two! She forbids Eileen to interfere though.
No.24
Charlene is begging Madge to let her stay promising she'll look hard and take *any* job. Madge agrees to a deal - Max's mate has agreed to keep the apprenticeship open for two weeks. If Charlene can find a job in Melbourne within that time, she can stay. Otherwise, she's going to Brisbane. Charlene agrees, but says that Madge has to be respectful of her and scott's relationship.
Henry comes home - he's had a terrible time at the school carnival - the kids stampeded him!
Coffee Shop
Scott is moaning to Daphne about people not taking him seriously and treating him as an adult. Charlene rushes in and tells him excitedly that she has two weeks to find a job. Scott isn't impressed and says it's not much time. Daphne tells Scott off for being a grouch.
Waterhole
Des and Daphne's father are having a drink at a table outside the Waterhole in full view of the Coffee Shop. (Why?!?!) They are getting on well, and Mr Lawrence says how much he's missed Daphne. He was hoping that marriage might have mellowed Daphne's temper(!) Madge comes over and Des introduces Allan to Madge. Des suggests that Allan comes around tonight at 7.30pm (Des is clearly attempting suicide!)
When Allan has gone, Madge says that it must be lovely for Daphne to catch up with her father again(!)
